Who we are
The Tanzania Albinos’ Economic and Health Organization (TAEHO) is a Non Governmental Organization which was registered to mould the Albinos economically, physically, mentally and make them aware of their rights.
TAEHO was registered under the Non Governmental ACT of 2002 and given a Certificate of Registration No 00NGO/00002598 which permits it to operate throughout Tanzania mainland.
Origins
TAEHO was hatched in the mind of Mr. Raphael Peter Samwel Mkono as its founder and Executive Director while assisting children living under poor and dangerous conditions at Nyerere square in the municipality of Dodoma. The assistance was by way of food, medical expenses, and counseling on the need to live peacefully with the society at large. It was later confirmed that albinos from poor families were living under very abject conditions. These people were plagued by skin diseases, poor eyesight, stigmatization and, poor attendance and performance at schools. Consequently Mr. Mkono formed and registered TAEHO as a vehicle for assisting the albino community to solve the problems which were be falling them. Mr Mkono himself is an albino who experienced many challenges facing albinos in Tanzania, he spent his personal time and money for helping marginalized groups , Mr Mkono was born in a poor family and he grown up under care of her mother after his father passed away when he was class four.
TAEHO’S VISION is to inculcate awareness and positive changes in the society as a solution to cruelty, stigmatization and marginalization of albinos, vulnerable children and women.
TAEHO was formed to ensure that the albino community, vulnerable children and women lives in a secure and healthy environment by introducing measures aimed at eradication of cruelty, stigmatization and marginalization through giving them equal opportunities in education, health, economic activities, human rights, leadership and freedom of participation in decision making from grass root to nation level.
